The recent NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) data showcases impressive academic achievements for Grand Canyon University (GCU) student-athletes. For the 2024-25 academic year, GCU achieved an impressive 988 average APR across all sports.
The APR measures how well student-athletes are doing academically by looking at their eligibility, retention, and graduation rates. This year’s report includes data from the 2021-22 to 2024-25 academic years.
Two standout programs, men’s golf and women’s tennis, earned perfect scores, placing them in the top 10% nationally. Both teams not only maintained perfect multi-year scores but also achieved a flawless 1,000 in the single-year category for 2024-25.
Overall, GCU excelled with eight sports achieving a perfect single-year APR of 1,000. These include men’s and women’s basketball, beach volleyball, men’s and women’s cross country, and women’s swimming and diving.

This academic success follows a previously reported 94% Graduation Success Rate, indicating a strong commitment to student-athlete performance. The achievements result from collaboration among student-athletes, coaches, and academic support teams.
The NCAA APR system tracks eligibility, retention, and graduation rates for Division I teams, assigning points to student-athletes who remain eligible and enrolled. This system highlights each program’s academic health over time.
Of the 18 programs reported by GCU, 16 had multi-year APR scores of 960 or higher, and 13 exceeded 980 in single-year scores for 2024-25.
