Grand Canyon University Softball Team Shines in Recent Series

Grand Canyon University (GCU) continued its impressive performance by sweeping Abilene Christian in a recent series, culminating in a dominant 5-0 victory. This win marks the Lopes’ 20th consecutive win, the best active streak in the nation.

Pitching Excellence

Sophomores Maggie Place and Oakley Vickers combined for a stellar outing, allowing only two hits. The Lopes boast the best team ERA in the country at 1.79, surpassing Tennessee. This remarkable pitching played a crucial role in GCU’s success over the weekend.

GCU started strong, scoring its first run in the opening inning with Jada Cooper driving in Savannah Kirk, who had a productive day with three hits. Kirk, who is 43 for 43 in stolen bases this season, is now just eight shy of the program record of 51.
