GRANTS PASS, Ore. – The ROC Food Pantry is currently facing a significant shortage of food. They are especially in need of canned goods, dried beans, rice, and pasta.
The pantry supports about 5,500 individuals each month, or roughly 400 families weekly. This demand is increasing, pointing to issues like rising inflation and heightened living costs. Recent changes to SNAP eligibility have also affected many families’ access to food resources.
In a recent distribution, families were turned away because the pantry had run out of food bags. “We still had people come to our line after we had closed, and unfortunately, we didn’t have anything we could to give them,” said Executive Director Shonna Bouteller.
In addition to food assistance, the ROC Food Pantry features a resale shop for women and children, allowing clients to obtain clothing.
If you wish to contribute, you can drop off food or clothing at the ROC Food Pantry located at 564 SW Foundry St, Grants Pass, OR 97526. Donations are accepted from Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
