DALLAS (AP) — Anthony Davis, a key player for the Dallas Mavericks, will be out for about six weeks due to a hand injury. Thankfully, he won’t need surgery for this ligament damage, as confirmed by the team following a medical check-up.
Davis got hurt while guarding Lauri Markkanen during a recent game against the Utah Jazz. He showed visible pain and immediately went to the locker room.
This isn’t the first time Davis has faced a lengthy injury this season. He missed most of November with a calf strain and has dealt with groin problems, missing half of the Mavericks’ games so far.
Since joining Dallas, he has faced multiple injury setbacks. He missed 40 out of 71 games since his debut last February. This trend raises concerns for the Mavericks, especially regarding their recent trade involving superstar Luka Dončić.
Another significant injury could change the team’s direction, possibly influencing decisions about trading Davis. His long absences could also affect how they approach Kyrie Irving’s return. Irving tore his ACL last March, and the Mavericks are eagerly waiting for news on his comeback.
