Tulane Sailing Shines at Weekend Regattas
Tulane sailing had a strong showing recently, finishing second and eighth in two different regattas in the northeast. The team competed against tough competition, showcasing their skills and teamwork.
At the Nevins Trophy, held at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in New York, Tulane secured second place out of 17 teams. They earned 68 points through six races, achieving two first-place finishes and placing in the top three five times. Skipper Tate Christopher led the B Division, finishing second with 30 points, while Kelly Holthus and Jonah Wozniak placed fourth in the A Division with 38 points.
In the Women’s Atlantic Coast Championship Finals at MIT in Boston, Tulane finished eighth among 18 teams. The team totaled 252 points across 14 races, featuring one first-place finish and eight top-five finishes. Ava Anderson excelled in the A Division with her crew, finishing seventh with 116 points. Meanwhile, the B Division crew finished 12th with 136 points.
Looking ahead, Tulane will participate in the Open ACC Finals and the Yale Women’s Fleet Race on October 18-19. The Open ACC Finals will take place at the Navy in Annapolis, and the Yale Women’s Fleet will be in New Haven, Connecticut.
