Grocery Outlet’s 15th Annual Independence from Hunger® Campaign Raises Over Million for Local Food Banks!

EMERYVILLE, Calif., Aug. 4, 2025 — Grocery Outlet Holding Corp. (NASDAQ: GO) just wrapped up its 15th annual Independence from Hunger® Food Drive, raising over $5 million for local food banks. This initiative ran from June 25 to July 31, with more than 540 Grocery Outlet stores participating across the nation.

People donated through in-store options and online contributions. Many stores also provided pre-packed grocery bags for local food banks. Jason Potter, the CEO of Grocery Outlet, expressed pride in the team’s efforts, saying, “I’m inspired by the dedication and generosity of our local partners. Together, we helped provide meals for families in need.”

The USDA reports that about 18 million families in the U.S. struggle with food security. Grocery Outlet’s Independence from Hunger campaign aims to assist these families by ensuring access to quality meals. Since launching in 2011, the campaign has raised over $30 million in cash and food donations.

There were several ways customers could contribute:

  • Give $5, get $5: Make a donation of $5 or more and receive a coupon for $5 off a future purchase.
  • Pre-made grocery bags: Purchase a bag filled with groceries chosen by local agencies and drop it in a collection bin.
  • In-store monetary donations: Give at the register to benefit local food banks.
  • Online donations: Visit GroceryOutlet.com/Donate to contribute online, supporting the Alameda County Community Food Bank in the Bay Area.

Every Grocery Outlet store partnered with a local food bank, directing all funds to support community efforts. Notably, companies like Conagra Brands and Kellanova also donated products for distribution to regional agencies. Importantly, Grocery Outlet ensures that 100% of the collected funds go directly to the cause, without deducting any fees.

This year’s success highlights the growing trend of corporate social responsibility. Recent surveys show that consumers prefer to shop at brands that give back to their communities. Engaging customers in a cause also builds loyalty and goodwill, making initiatives like this imperative for businesses today. It’s a win-win: families receive support, and companies strengthen community ties.
