Guy Fieri Reveals Shocking Setback: ‘My Leg Exploded’ After Stairs Incident—Now Using a Wheelchair

Celebrity chef Guy Fieri won’t be whipping up his famous Thanksgiving spread this year. Instead, he’ll be cheering on his family from a wheelchair.

Recently, Fieri, known for his energetic personality and “Welcome to Flavortown” catchphrase, suffered a serious injury while filming his new show, “Flavor Town Food Fight.” He took a tumble down some stairs, leading to a tear in his right quad muscle.

In his own words, “It exploded right in the center.” This injury required emergency surgery, leaving him unable to walk for eight weeks. “I can’t put any weight on it,” Fieri shared in an interview with Fox News.

While he heals, Fieri is passing the cooking duties to his sons Hunter and Ryder, along with his nephew, Jules. “They all know how to cook,” he explained. He’ll be guiding them from his chair, making it a family adventure. They’re gearing up to prepare a feast for about 40 people.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how they pull it all together,” he said. His son Ryder recently texted him from school, noting how Fieri’s training over the years was finally paying off: “It’s going to be my time to shine.”

Fieri’s injury isn’t common. According to orthopedic experts, a torn quad muscle can be quite rare, especially at this specific location. Recovery can be lengthy, involving physical therapy to regain strength. Fieri is determined to push through it: “I want to get back to normal as fast as possible.”

As he prepares for his recovery, he’s focused on reuniting with his family and supporting his sons as they tackle the Thanksgiving meal. Family, after all, is one of Fieri’s greatest passions. Here’s hoping for a joyful holiday filled with love, laughter, and, of course, delicious food—even if he can’t cook it himself this year.
