Gwyneth Paltrow Reveals How Nightly Drinking Amid LA Wildfires Caused Her Menopause Symptoms to Spiral

Gwyneth Paltrow recently shared that her menopause symptoms intensified after drinking frequently during the Los Angeles fires in January. On a recent episode of “The Goop Podcast,” she discussed her health struggles with Dr. Mary Clare Haver.

“I’m really in the thick of it right now,” Paltrow said. She explained that while her symptoms are usually manageable, the stress of the fires pushed her to drink more than usual. “I think I drank every night,” she added, calling it a form of “medicating.”

Normally, Paltrow doesn’t drink much—just one drink a week. But during that chaotic time, she noticed her menopause symptoms spiraling out of control. “It was the first time I really noticed causation in that way,” she remarked.

Sleep has been another challenge for her. She described nights filled with anxiety, where she would lie awake for hours, reflecting on past mistakes and worries. “I had never felt anxiety like that before,” she shared.

Despite these struggles, Paltrow remains hopeful that things will improve. During the fires, she felt great sadness for many friends who lost their homes. She expressed her grief on social media, highlighting the devastation in her community.

Fortunately, her own home was safe, though she later sold her Brentwood house for $22 million that same month, untouched by the flames.

Paltrow’s candidness about her journey through menopause sheds light on the emotional and physical challenges many women face during this time. It’s a reminder that health issues can be complicated and deeply personal.
