Harding University Lady Bisons Shine in Commanding Win at Steve Guymon Invitational Home Opener

The Harding women’s cross-country team started their season with an impressive win at the Steve Guymon Invitational. Freshman Vivien Kipkorir led the way, capturing the individual title and helping the Lady Bisons earn first place with a score of 27. Little Rock took second with 56 points, followed by Christian Brothers with 72.

Kipkorir, also set to run middle distance for the track team, finished the race in 18:33.12. Teammate and senior, Josie Parks, came in second at 18:52.12, while Kaley Byrd from Christian Brothers secured third with a time of 18:56.20.

The depth of the Lady Bisons was key to their success. All five scoring runners finished in the top 14. Addison Lyles placed fourth with 19:04.41, and Zoe Williamson made the top 10 with a time of 20:31.13. Jaclyn Weilnau (14th, 20:44.37), Emily Driskill (16th, 20:59.48), and McKellee Pape (18th, 21:15.91) rounded out the team’s excellent performance.

This season is particularly exciting, as Kipkorir brings fresh energy and talent. Historically, Harding has shown strong results in cross-country, and this year’s team appears poised for success. The Lady Bisons will next compete at the Lois Davis Invitational on September 19 in Magnolia, Arkansas.
