Harvard Rowing Team Shines at IRA National Championship

The Harvard men’s heavyweight rowing team had a successful outing at the IRA National Championship Regatta in Lake Natoma, California, bringing home both a silver and bronze medal.

In the early races, the third varsity crew, led by stroke Marco Vicino, began strong. They initially trailed behind competitors from Princeton and Cal. But in an impressive second half, Harvard surged ahead, finishing just behind Washington with a time of 5:45.018.

Later that morning, the second varsity boat, stroked by Tyler Horler, delivered a powerful performance to secure a bronze medal. They held a solid second for most of the race but were overtaken by Washington in the final sprint, finishing in 5:44.273.

The varsity eight entered their grand final after a strong season but ended up just shy of the podium, placing fourth. Stroked by Ben Scott, they started strong but fell back, finishing in 5:41.588.
