Harvard Men’s Swimming and Diving Looks Ahead to Columbia Meet
This Friday, the Harvard men’s swimming and diving team will compete against Columbia at the Percy Uris Natatorium. The meet kicks off at 5 p.m. ET.
Currently, Harvard is on a roll with a perfect 3-0 record, including 2-0 in the Ivy League. Last week, they showcased their strength by defeating Dartmouth (217-82) and Cornell (215-85).
Some standout performances included Joshua Chen, who set a Dartmouth pool record in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes, finishing with times of 53.76 and 1:57.65, respectively. Meanwhile, in the 200 fly, teammates David Schmitt and Ognjen Pilipovic also made waves with impressive times, with Ognjen achieving a personal best of 1:45.37.
Harvard has a strong historical advantage over Columbia, with a record of 74-5. The Crimson has not lost to the Lions in 18 consecutive meets, including their last win, 167-131, last year in Columbia.
On the other hand, Columbia’s record stands at 1-2 this season, with their lone victory coming against Penn (166-134). After facing challenges against Princeton (225-75) and Yale (194-106), the Lions are looking to bounce back.
As the season unfolds, Harvard aims for a fourth consecutive win, continuing their successful streak.
Looking Ahead
After this meet, Harvard will shift focus to the Minnesota Invitational from December 3-6, a chance for the team to test its skills against a diverse field. With a mix of new talent and experienced swimmers, their performance will be one to watch.
This year, swimming meets are not just about competition. Social media trends show fans engaging more than ever. Many are sharing highlights, records, and personal milestones, creating a sense of community around the sport.
