Harvard’s Piggé Chosen to Represent USA in 3×3 Basketball at World University Games!

Harvard’s Chandler Piggé to Represent USA in Men’s 3×3 Basketball

Chandler Piggé, a rising senior guard at Harvard, is set to represent the USA in men’s 3×3 basketball at the FISU World University Games. This exciting event will take place in Bochum, Germany, from July 17 to 20, 2025.

The 3×3 basketball matches will be held at Jahrhunderthalle. The schedule includes pool play on July 17 and 18, followed by play-in games, quarterfinals on July 19, and the semifinals and finals on July 20. Before the competition, the team will train together on July 12 and participate in the Opening Ceremonies on July 16.

Piggé will join fellow Ivy League athletes, including Avery Brown from Columbia, Jackson Hicke from Princeton, and Nick Townsend from Yale. The games will follow FIBA rules.

This will be Piggé’s third consecutive summer on the international stage. He previously played in Canada with his Harvard team in 2023 and participated in a US-China basketball exchange in 2024 at Tsinghua University.

Last season, Piggé’s performance shone as he earned the Honorable Mention All-Ivy title, was named the team’s Most Valuable Player, and led Harvard in games played, averaging 13.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. His growth as a player is evident; he started with just 1.9 points per game as a freshman and improved to 8.1 points his sophomore year.

The rise of 3×3 basketball has garnered attention worldwide. According to FIBA, the game combines speed and strategy, appealing to a younger audience. The format is fast-paced, with each game lasting only 10 minutes, making it exciting to watch.

With the upcoming World University Games, Piggé has the chance to showcase his talent on a global stage. His background adds another layer to his journey—having lived in Japan and Germany before moving to the U.S., he brings a unique perspective to the sport.

As interest in 3×3 continues to grow, Piggé’s participation reflects not only his hard work but also a broader trend in sports where youth engagement and international competition are at the forefront.
