Hawks Soar to 2nd Place at New England Conference Championship – A University of Hartford Triumph!

The Hawks recently hosted the 2025 Women’s Golf Conference of New England Championship at Keney Park Golf Course in Windsor, Connecticut. This two-day event featured six teams, and the Hawks proudly secured second place.

Freshman Maris Branyan led the team with consistent performance, shooting two rounds of 85 for a total score of +30, earning fifth place overall. Senior Charlee Nagle finished ninth, with scores of 87 and 92 across the two days. Graduate student Tessa Susco placed tenth with scores of 87 and 93. Sophomore Gabby DeBenedetto came in twelfth with scores of 88 and 94, while freshman Lilly Sprister rounded out the team with consistent scores of 101.

  • The team notched two birdies, contributed by Susco and DeBenedetto.
  • Suffolk University claimed first place with a total score of 695, narrowly edging out the Hawks who finished with 711.
  • Amanda Forziati and Abby Flanagan from the University of New England tied for individual first place with a score of 164.

In recent years, women’s golf participation has grown significantly. According to the National Golf Foundation, women made up about 23% of all golfers in the U.S. in 2022, a notable increase that shows a positive trend in the sport.
