Brown Faces Tough Loss Against Yale

The Brown men’s basketball team opened its Ivy League season with a challenging game against Yale, losing 70-53 at the Pizzitola Sports Center. This puts Brown’s record at 6-8 overall and 0-1 in the Ivy League.

Head Coach Mike Martin praised Yale for their performance, stating, “We were in control for the first 20 minutes, and I think our defense was solid. But we needed to score more, and unfortunately, our shots just didn’t fall.”

In the first half, Brown led by as much as eight points. Adrian Uchidiuno made a layup that put them ahead 23-15. But after a scoring drought, Yale took back control, ending the half with a narrow lead of 30-29. Landon Lewis led Brown with nine points, while Uchidiuno added eight.

The second half didn’t go as planned for the Bears. Yale surged ahead with a strong 9-4 run, taking a 38-33 lead. They maintained that momentum, eventually expanding their lead to 17 points. Brown struggled offensively, scoring only 23 points in the second half compared to Yale’s 41.

Lewis finished as Brown’s top scorer with 16 points and eight rebounds, while Uchidiuno ended with 14 points. Jeremiah Jenkins also stood out, matching his career-high with 10 assists and leading with three steals.

Looking ahead, Brown will face Penn in its first Ivy League road game on Saturday, January 10. The game starts at 2 p.m. at The Palestra.
