Michigan started strong, taking the first two sets. Allison Jacobs shone with 17 kills and 8 digs, while Ella Demetrician recorded a solid double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs. The team combined for 14.5 blocks, led by Serena Nyambio with seven. This effort positioned Michigan with a .298 hitting percentage, even peaking at an impressive .560 in the second set.
In the first set, Michigan jumped to an early lead with a 3-0 start. They kept the pressure on, ultimately clinching the set 25-22 with a final block from Nyambio and Cymarah Gordon.
