The Lindenwood lacrosse team faced off against Liberty in their first conference game and unfortunately lost 19-8. The match took place at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Missouri.
The game started off slow. Liberty quickly gained a 2-0 lead with free position goals. However, Lindenwood fought back. Carly Thiel made a fantastic play, going coast to coast to bring the score to 2-1. Shortly after, Luci Selander connected with Reese Krieger, tying the game at two with just over seven minutes left in the first quarter.
The second quarter saw Liberty take control, scoring five unanswered goals and leading 7-2. Lindenwood’s Nicole Gorman responded well, scoring twice to close the gap to 7-4 before Liberty managed to score again before halftime, ending the half at 8-4.
In the second half, Liberty dominated right from the start. They scored six goals in just five minutes, pushing their lead to 14-4. Claire Blue managed to score for Lindenwood off a pass from Breckin Hare, but the Flames continued to pull ahead, closing the third quarter at 17-5.
Despite Lindenwood’s efforts in the fourth, with goals from Maddie MacLeod, Reese Krieger, and Isabella Jahkhah, the final score remained 19-8.
