PHOENIX – The UT Arlington Mavericks couldn’t secure a win against Grand Canyon, losing 85-71 on the road. Five players scored in double digits for the Mavericks, with Jaden Wells leading the way with 19 points off the bench. Brody Robinson added 11 points and seven assists, while Lance Ware posted his tenth double-double of the season, scoring 10 points and grabbing a career-high 17 rebounds.

After the game, head coach KT Turner expressed his disappointment. “We didn’t compete like we should have,” he said. “Turning the ball over 17 times made it impossible for us to win.” The Mavericks struggled with ball security, allowing Grand Canyon to make 14 steals in the game.

Despite the loss, UT Arlington moved the ball well, recording 16 assists on 25 made shots. Robinson’s seven assists stood out among the team’s efforts.

How It Happened

The game started poorly for the Mavericks, who trailed 40-27 at halftime. Grand Canyon extended their lead in the second half, going ahead 66-48. UT Arlington fought back with a quick 7-0 run, including a three-pointer from Robinson, narrowing the gap to 66-55 with just over seven minutes left. However, Grand Canyon maintained control and closed out the game with a final score of 85-71.
