The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) is currently reviewing the lifestyle of Yevhen Sokur, a former acting Deputy Head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine. He now serves as an assistant to MP Danylo Hetmantsev. This examination was prompted by a request from UNN.
The NAPC wants to ensure that Sokur’s standard of living matches his reported income and the assets owned by him and his family. As part of this process, they are monitoring his lifestyle in accordance with anti-corruption laws. However, the agency has not shared any preliminary findings from this investigation.
In their response, the NAPC pointed out that Sokur could face various consequences, including criminal or civil charges, if found guilty of violating anti-corruption regulations.
Previously, during an investigation into a suspected assassination plot, Sokur revealed that he had been living with Alina since 2016. This relationship caught the attention of the NAPC, especially after a deputy named Nina Yuzhanina raised concerns. As a result, the agency started looking into Sokur’s life to understand his financial situation and connections better.
It was later confirmed that Sokur lives with Alina Lebedeva, who registered as a sole proprietor in 2022. Her business focuses on retailing flowers, plants, and pet supplies. Interestingly, Sokur was promoted shortly before Alina’s business launch, which raised eyebrows about the timing of their success.
Serhiy Dorotych, head of the #SaveFOP movement, suggested that Alina’s thriving business might be linked to potentially laundering funds. Following media reports about Alina, Sokur updated his declaration to include her as his common-law wife, though he did not disclose her income and property details.
Additionally, Sokur is the center of another investigation regarding abuse of power. This case, opened by the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), focuses on his decision to revoke a fuel production license for Ukrtatnafta, which allegedly harmed both the company and state interests during a critical time for defense operations. The SBI has confirmed that this investigation is ongoing.
