Highlights from the Latest Teutopolis Board of Education Meeting: What You Need to Know

The Teutopolis Board of Education met on Monday at 6 PM in the Unit Office. They covered important topics like finances, upcoming events, and staff changes.

  • The board approved the Treasurer’s Reports and bills for payment.
  • They also approved several items, including:
    • Minutes from the January 20 meeting
    • Graduation and promotion dates: May 18 for THS and March 22 for TJHS
    • Agreements for the Alternate Education Program for the 2025-26 school year
    • Budget preparations for the 2025-26 year
    • Summer work positions
    • Renewal of content filtering software
    • A decision to revert to a previous Title IX policy following a court ruling
    • An easement for the Village of Teutopolis for work on Oak Street
    • A THS Robotics Field Trip that exceeds 200 miles
  • The board will let bids through the Upchurch Group for updates on the THS cafeteria and secure entries at both THS and TJHS. Bid openings are set for March 11 with final approval on March 17.

In the reports section, several updates were shared:

  • Building updates
  • The annual 5Essentials survey will run from February 28 to March 31.
  • Details about the upcoming April 2025 School Board Election were reviewed and are available on the district website.
  • Required forms for elected officials are due to the County Clerk’s office by May 1.
  • A preliminary calendar for the 2025-26 school year was drafted, with feedback expected soon.
  • There will be an IASB regional meeting in Newton on March 18.
  • Teutopolis was not selected for the 2025 Property Tax Relief Grant due to state funding limits.

During the meeting, the board accepted retirement letters from Carlene Rauch, a bus driver, and Connie Deters, a math teacher at TJHS, both effective at the end of the 2024-25 year. They approved a reassignment of Haley Honselman from counselor at TGS/TJHS to THS school counselor for the 2025-26 year. Additionally, they approved the seniority list for staff and the 2025-26 wage extensions for administrators and directors.

The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 17, 2025, at 6 PM.
