Exciting Day at the Fighting Illini Twilight

The Southern Illinois Track and Field team had a fantastic experience at the Fighting Illini Twilight event. Athletes showcased their talents, achieving impressive results.

Darrione Williams shone in the long jump, securing a season-best jump of 7.37 meters. This leap not only earned him second place but also placed him at the top in his conference. His jumps coach, Jacob Brydson, praised Williams for bouncing back from a previous scare. "He showed real determination under tough conditions," Brydson noted.

Na’Kyrah Cooks also performed well, clinching second in the long jump with a mark of 5.78 meters. Although she missed out on a personal best by a narrow margin, it was still her best so far this outdoor season. Brydson highlighted her focus and potential moving forward.

Elise Green made her mark in shot-put, throwing 13.35 meters, another personal milestone for her. Meanwhile, Christian Coleman clocked in at 14.38 seconds in the 110m hurdles. This personal best placed him third overall, just behind Olympians. Brydson remarked on Coleman’s progress in refining his technique, sparking excitement for what lies ahead.

In the javelin throw, Jalynn Wood secured a third-place finish with a throw of 33.96 meters.
