Hilaria Baldwin reflects on her engagement to Alec Baldwin in their new TLC show, “The Baldwins.” It premieres on Sunday, February 23, at 10 p.m. The series gives viewers a peek into their busy life with seven children in their five-bedroom Manhattan apartment.
In the first episode, Hilaria, 41, shares her thoughts on marrying Alec, 66, who previously was married to Kim Basinger. Alec mentions the importance of getting a prenup after his first marriage, and Hilaria admits she didn’t fully understand it at the time. “I just said I would sign it,” she says, adding that now she would want to read it more carefully.
The couple has a full house with kids: Carmen, 11, Rafael, 9, Leonardo, 8, Romeo, 6, Eduardo and Marilu, 4, and Ilaria, 2. Alec also has a daughter, Ireland, from his previous marriage.
Hilaria also addresses the criticism surrounding her accent. She expresses her love for both English and Spanish, saying, “Mixing the two doesn’t make me inauthentic. It makes me normal.” She acknowledges that negative comments can hurt but emphasizes the value of being multilingual and part of diverse communities.
Leading up to the show’s launch, Hilaria and Alec explained why they chose to do reality TV now. Hilaria feels that sharing their life feels authentic and empowering. “It’s about spending time with family rather than being away at work,” she shares.
Alec jokes about their busy life, saying they could be enjoying lavish experiences instead of changing diapers daily. He recalls how he once teased his brother Billy about parenting, only to find himself in a similar situation with his own large family.
This engaging glimpse into their lives promises to offer both humor and heart, appealing to fans and families alike.
