Hilaria Baldwin is ready to take center stage on “Dancing With the Stars” (DWTS) Season 34. The announcement, made on September 3, noted she would be dancing alongside husband Alec Baldwin and their seven children, famous from their TLC show, “The Baldwins.”
Hilaria shared her excitement with USA TODAY, saying, “I’m bringing everybody. We decided to do something crazy and go to LA.” However, cameras from “The Baldwins” won’t be filming, as the show’s second season hasn’t been renewed.
The upcoming season boasts an eclectic cast, including Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles and former NBA star Baron Davis. Other notable participants are actor Corey Feldman and comedian Andy Richter. Together, they join personalities like wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin and TikTok influencer Alix Earle.
Hilaria’s dance journey began in childhood, competing with NYU’s ballroom team. Lately, her TikTok videos, featuring playful dance routines with Alec, sparked interest from DWTS producers. “I was just having fun,” she explained, reflecting on how this led to her opportunity.
Despite her dance background, she hesitated about joining the show. “I wasn’t sure I belonged here,” she noted, feeling her experience might not fit with more beginner dancers. But now, she sees it differently, stating, “Apparently, it’s not a problem.”
However, Hilaria faces challenges. She has gaps in Latin dance training and is recovering from a hip injury that halted her dancing for over 16 years. “I closed the door on that part of my life,” she recalled, emphasizing how she focused on yoga and family instead.
Her public persona also adds pressure. Alec Baldwin’s legal troubles from an incident on the set of “Rust” have affected their public image. Hilaria is determined to focus on the dance competition and not on critics. “I’ve learned in my 40s that if you go through life trying to prove things to people, you’re missing the point,” she remarked.
This DWTS season offers a fresh start for the Baldwins after tough times. Hilaria expressed optimism about moving forward as a family: “We’re all looking forward.”
