Historic Arrival: First Indian Navy Training Squadron Lands in Thailand – Discover the Mission and Significance!

New Delhi, March 3: The First Training Squadron (1TS) of the Indian Navy has reached Phuket Deep Sea Port, Thailand. This visit is part of their training deployment to Southeast Asia. Ships INS Shardul, INS Sujata, and ICGS Veera arrived on Saturday, and the Ministry of Defence shared this news on Monday.

They were warmly welcomed by the Royal Thai Navy (RTN), complete with a performance by the RTN band. Captain Anshul Kishore, the senior officer of 1TS, along with the commanding officers of the ships, met with Rear Admiral Suwat Donsakul, the commander of the Third Naval Area Command. Their talks focused on regional security and possibilities for joint training and goodwill activities.

A reception was held on the 1TS for RTN leaders, diplomats, and members of the Indian community. During their stay, the Indian Navy and the Royal Thai Navy will participate in various activities aimed at enhancing their maritime cooperation. These include yoga sessions, sports events, and live performances by naval bands, along with professional interactions and cross-training visits.

The relationship between the Indian Navy and the Royal Thai Navy has grown stronger over the years. This visit further enhances their understanding and operational cooperation. Earlier this month, the First Training Squadron also made a stop at Cam Ranh Bay in Vietnam on February 20, where they were received warmly by the Vietnam People’s Navy and the Indian diplomatic mission.

During that visit, the squadron engaged in professional and community interactions, including a visit to the Vietnam Naval Academy. These exchanges between the two navies mark an important step in strengthening ties in the region.
