An odd incident occurred on the opening day of the pink-ball Test between India and Australia on the Adelaide Oval earlier this month. The floodlights on the venue went off twice within the 18th over of Australia’s first innings. Later, Cricket Australia issued an announcement acknowledging the disruption and mentioned that it occurred on account of a “brief internal switching issue”. The detailed purpose behind the disturbance has now come to the fore. It was Nathan Lyon’s request that created the chaos.
Former cricketer and Australian media persona James Brayshaw talked to Lyon in regards to the incident on Day 1 of India vs Australia third Test.
Brayshaw mentioned to Lyon on Seven’s protection, as quoted by fox cricket: “It led back to me that the lights went off twice and you were the reason for that because you’re the nightwatchman and you wanted to go out and have a hit.
“So you mentioned to the bloke, ‘Put the lights on within the nets so I can have a success’, and he hit the flawed button twice and turned the entire floor lights off.”
Lyon then revealed that the incident involved him and Australian assistant coach Andre Borovec and a security guard.
“I could not consider that. I used to be truly with our assistant coach ‘Boro’, sitting on the market in the dead of night and the safety guard requested us, and we mentioned, ‘If you possibly can put the lights on that’d be nice, I would like all the assistance I can get’. Then subsequent minute it went off,” said Lyon.
“I actually mentioned to Boro, ‘I reckon he is hit the flawed swap’. We sat out in the dead of night there for about quarter-hour ready to have a success. I’ll take that one, getting blamed for somebody not figuring out flip. the lights on,” he added.
Talking in regards to the sport, Australia registered a 10-wicket win to stage the five-match collection 1-1.
