Fred Hoiberg, head coach of the University of Nebraska men’s basketball team, has been named the National Coach of the Year by The Associated Press. In 2025-26, Hoiberg led the Huskers to their best season ever with a record of 28-7, achieving the school’s first NCAA Sweet 16 finish. They set new records for total wins (28), conference wins (15), and road wins (seven). Nebraska kicked off the season with a stunning 20-game winning streak, ultimately stretching to 24 wins when combined with the previous season’s performance.
Despite being predicted to finish last in the Big Ten, Nebraska surprised everyone by finishing second with a 15-5 record.
