Hollow Knight: Silksong Soars to 7 Million Sales in Just Three Months – Discover What Makes It a Must-Play!

Since its release, *Hollow Knight: Silksong* has sold over seven million copies in just three months. Team Cherry, the game’s developers, noted that this figure doesn’t even include the “millions more” who played it on Xbox Game Pass.

To celebrate this achievement, Team Cherry announced their first major expansion called *Sea of Sorrow*, set to launch for free next year. This expansion will bring new areas, bosses, and tools, all in a nautical theme.

They also unveiled *Hollow Knight: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition*, scheduled for 2026. This version will feature enhanced graphics, higher frame rates, and improved resolutions, and it will be free for those who bought the original game on Switch.

Before these releases, players can expect an update to fix bugs and add new features across all platforms.

Team Cherry expressed their amazement: “It’s a staggering number of players, more than we could have expected—enough to crash all the storefronts!” The growth of the community has truly inspired them, especially seeing fan art, mods, and strategies shared among players.

*Silksong* broke several records upon launch on September 4, becoming one of the biggest games ever for concurrent player counts. Just a day after it launched, it peaked at 535,213 concurrent players on Steam. It was also the most wishlisted game of 2025, with 4.5 million wishes.

Critics have also praised *Silksong*, giving it a notable Metacritic score of 90. This follow-up to 2017’s *Hollow Knight* has met expectations and then some.

In light of the game’s success, it’s interesting to note that *Hollow Knight’s* original release in 2017 paved the way for indie games to gain significant mainstream attention. Games like *Silksong* show how indie developers can capture large audiences and lead to vibrant gaming communities.

As the gaming industry evolves, it’s clear that both players and developers are stepping up their game. The excitement around titles like *Silksong* is reshaping how we think about indie games in today’s market.
