Homecoming 2025 is set for November 2-8, welcoming thousands of Wildcats back to campus. The theme this year is “Red, Blue and True,” emphasizing the connections that tie students, alumni, and community members together across generations. Festivities kick off with the lighting of “A” Mountain and culminate in a thrilling football game where Arizona faces off against Kansas.
Jonelle Vold, a key figure in alumni engagement at the University of Arizona Foundation, shared that this year’s events celebrate university traditions while highlighting the importance of being a Wildcat for Life. More than 50 activities planned throughout the week aim to foster a sense of belonging and school pride.
One exciting addition this year is “Red, Blue and You: A GOLD Gathering,” specifically designed for recent graduates—those who have graduated in the last decade. Vold noted that this group plays a crucial role in shaping future alumni leadership, understanding the needs of current students and future graduates.
Highlights of the week include a community mural project led by a student artist, a DJ, and a livestream event for lighting “A” Mountain. On November 7, the alumni are invited to an “All-University Happy Hour” to bring together faculty, staff, and former students from various disciplines.
Vold emphasized the importance of community, stating that Homecoming is a time for everyone—students, alumni, faculty, and friends—to gather, celebrate shared histories, and create lasting memories.
In 2025, a special focus is placed on Military Appreciation Night, coinciding with Homecoming festivities during the football game. This initiative seeks to honor veterans and active-duty military members within the university community.
Spirit Week leading up to the Homecoming game encourages employees to don Wildcat colors daily. Each day has a specific theme, from “All U of A Colors” on Monday to a fun “Wildcat Friday,” where fans can snag a discount on university gear at local Campus Store locations.
Beyond these festivities, a Spirit Week photo contest invites student organizations and units to showcase their Wildcat spirit. Submissions will be voted on by alumni, with the winning photo featured on the big screen during the Homecoming game.
To dive deeper into the importance of alumni engagement, experts suggest that strong connections between universities and their alumni can lead to better funding and support, shaping future generations. Engaged alumni tend to volunteer, mentor, and contribute financially, creating a cycle of support for their institutions.
As Homecoming approaches, the excitement in the air is palpable. It’s a chance to honor the past and look forward to a bright future together as Wildcats. For more details on events, check out the University of Arizona alumni page here.
