On June 24, 2025, in Dublin, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh met with members of the Indian diaspora and the Overseas Friends of BJP Ireland. The main topic was Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a “Developed India” and how important the Indian community abroad is to making that happen.
Chugh called for a united front against terrorism, emphasizing the need to protect innocent lives. He paid tribute to the 329 passengers who died in the 1985 Air India Kanishka bombing, stressing the attack was an assault on all humanity. He stated, “Terrorism in any form must be condemned. The global community must unite to cut off its funding and root it out completely.”
During his talk, he highlighted the Modi government’s strong actions against terrorism, positioning India as a primary voice in global anti-terror discussions. He referenced Operation Sindoor, describing it as a plot by Pakistan’s ISI to undermine India’s peace and progress. “Such efforts will always fail against our unity and strength,” he asserted.
The discussion also touched on the “Viksit Bharat 2047” vision. Chugh pointed out that India is now the world’s fourth-largest economy, growing quickly in various sectors. He attributed some of this success to contributions from overseas Indians. “Our diaspora plays a vital role in India’s rise,” he noted.
He also praised Modi’s global foreign policy, which has improved how India is viewed on the world stage. Today, India is more respected, and overseas Indians have a significant role in promoting that image.
Chugh encouraged members of the diaspora to be cultural ambassadors, sharing India’s achievements with younger generations. Attendees expressed their commitment to supporting the goal of a Developed India by 2047.
This gathering reflects the growing trend of Indian diasporas actively engaging with their home country’s vision and taking part in shaping its future. With the Indian economy on the rise, their involvement could help inspire further growth and innovation.
