HORIBA Boosts Global Innovation: Full Acquisition of Pristine Deeptech Strengthens R&D in India

HORIBA India Private Limited, a part of the Japanese HORIBA Group, has completely acquired Pristine Deeptech Private Limited. This acquisition opens the door for HORIBA to explore Lab-Grown Diamonds (LGDs) in the semiconductor and quantum research fields.

With this move, Pristine Deeptech becomes a fully-owned subsidiary of HORIBA. The company will serve as the foundation for a new R&D hub in India, focusing on advanced technology.

Diamonds: A Game Changer

Pristine Deeptech is a pioneer in using Lab-Grown Diamonds as high-performance materials. These “Deeptech Diamonds” are making waves beyond the jewelry industry. They play crucial roles in:

  • Semiconductors: They act as excellent thermal conductors, helping to keep advanced chips from overheating.
  • Quantum Research: They provide stable platforms for quantum sensing and computing.
  • High-Power Electronics: They enhance power conversion efficiency, critical for electric vehicles and renewable energy systems.

Supporting India’s Vision

This acquisition aligns with India’s “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives. It signifies a shift towards creating high-value intellectual property rather than just manufacturing.

Dr. Rajeev Gautam, President of HORIBA India, noted, “Our partnership with Pristine Deeptech is key to enhancing HORIBA’s research capabilities. We aim to boost innovation and develop local talent.”

Strengthening the Deeptech Ecosystem

For HORIBA, known for its expertise in Raman spectroscopy and analytical systems, this acquisition means integrating diamond material science with their measurement skills. Mr. Hideyuki Koishi, Chairman of HORIBA India, stated this partnership represents a significant advancement in building global capabilities in advanced materials. The new R&D facility in Ahmedabad will leverage India’s growing pool of deeptech engineers and materials scientists, helping to shape future industries.

This strategic step not only puts HORIBA at the forefront of cutting-edge technology but also boosts India’s position in the global deeptech ecosystem.

In recent years, investments in deeptech have surged, with a report indicating a 45% increase in funding for deeptech startups in India. This growing interest underscores the potential of innovations like Lab-Grown Diamonds to transform multiple industries.

As we look ahead, the collaboration between HORIBA and Pristine Deeptech may redefine what’s possible in technology and science, setting new benchmarks for the industry.
