The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank recently celebrated a major win: Colossal’s 2025 America’s Favorite Couple campaign raised over $1.9 million for hunger relief in LA County. This effort mobilized countless participants and voters, and their generosity will provide much-needed nutritious food to families facing food insecurity.
Every couple that entered the contest, every supporter who cast votes, and the entire community who rallied behind their favorite stories made a difference. This campaign transformed love stories into meaningful support for those in need. The Food Bank also applauds the volunteers and advocates who spread the word, showing how powerful a united community can be.
Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen contributed by creating a promotional video for the contest, while Food Bank Board Member Keith Addis played a key role in coordinating the Food Bank’s involvement. Their combined efforts helped draw attention to the cause.
A notable highlight of the campaign was the engaging and inclusive nature of the competition. It showcased how storytelling can foster a sense of community and push for real change. Research shows that community-driven initiatives like this can significantly impact public awareness and fundraising efforts. For instance, a recent report by the National Philanthropic Trust noted that community engagement leads to a 20% increase in charitable giving.
The winners, Jennie and Bryan Drollinger, worked hard to earn their recognition. Their story resonated with voters, demonstrating the campaign’s success in connecting with people’s hearts. This model not only raised funds but also brought awareness to pressing social issues, including food insecurity and environmental challenges.
Colossal’s initiative benefited not just the Food Bank but also Oceana, an organization dedicated to fighting overfishing and pollution. Their collaboration exemplifies the power of partnerships in pursuing shared goals.
According to Feeding America, nearly one in six people in Los Angeles County face food insecurity. The funds from this campaign will help the Food Bank source and distribute food through a wide network of partner agencies, as well as support programs aimed at improving nutrition security for vulnerable populations.
A special thanks goes to long-time supporters like Jeff Goldblum and his wife Emilie. Their involvement not only brought visibility to the campaign but also inspired new audiences to engage with the Food Bank’s mission.
As the Food Bank builds on this momentum, they invite supporters to their 4th Annual A Million Reasons event, featuring a performance by Goldblum. This event is another opportunity to support the fight against hunger in LA County.
The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is deeply grateful for the collective effort of Colossal, Oceana, Jeff and Emilie Goldblum, the participating couples, and everyone who donated or voted. Together, they’ve turned inspiration into action, making strides toward a hunger-free LA County.
