Some of the best love stories start unexpectedly. For Danielle Reid and Adriel Morgan, their story began at a birthday party in December 2022, hosted by a friend of Adriel’s cousin. In a crowd of strangers, Danielle spotted Adriel, who appeared quiet and reserved. “I joke that I was catfished,” Danielle says, laughing. “He’s actually an extreme extrovert, but he was tired that night.” If he had mingled more, she might not have noticed him.
Adriel was instantly drawn to Danielle’s striking looks and quirky personality. After exchanging messages for a month, they finally went on their first date at The Pub in January 2023. As they got to know each other, they discovered a shared connection to rural St. James, quickly strengthening their bond. By July 15, 2023, Adriel officially asked Danielle to be his girlfriend during a rafting trip in Ocho Rios.
Their contrasting personalities became their biggest strengths. Danielle finds calm in Adriel’s support, helping her manage overthinking and anxiety. “He’s my emotional anchor,” she shares. Adriel appreciates Danielle’s unique perspective, saying she helps him notice things he might miss.
Their relationship is sprinkled with fun quirks, too. Danielle often chuckles at Adriel’s passionate interest in anime, history, and video games, alongside his quirky takes on everyday topics like umbrella etiquette.
The Proposal
Fast forward to March 29, 2025. Adriel planned the perfect proposal at Moon Palace in Ocho Rios, a nod to Danielle’s favorite sushi restaurant. He wanted it to feel special but also intimate. Just days before, Danielle nearly discovered the ring box while rummaging through Adriel’s bag. “I tried hard not to think about it,” she admitted.
During a picturesque sunset walk, Adriel led her to a gazebo adorned with “MARRY ME” balloons. He pretended it was for someone else to keep the surprise alive. At that moment, with cameras flashing, Adriel dropped to one knee and shared a heartfelt, handwritten speech—a detail that meant a lot to Danielle.
Despite knowing about the ring, the reality of the proposal took her breath away. “I was moved by the beautiful setup at sunset. It all felt perfect.”
The couple chose to plan their wedding without a professional, leaning on family and friends for support. Danielle took on most of the organizing herself, using her legal skills to negotiate with vendors. “It was mentally exhausting, but I loved it,” she remarked.
Their wedding happened on December 13, 2025, at the Annual Gazebo in Hope Botanical Gardens. Danielle walked down the aisle to a soulful rendition of Elvis’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” “The groom cried when I appeared—definitely a win for the dress!” she laughed.
For Adriel, seeing Danielle walk toward him was everything he had dreamed of. They skipped many traditional wedding elements, aiming for a more personalized experience. “We didn’t do the bouquet toss, cake cutting, or official first dance. It was all about us,” Danielle explained.
The reception entrance was memorable, with the bridal party arriving to Bunji Garlin’s “Today.” Danielle recalled with a grin, “We even had a sparkler machine surprise everyone!”
A standout moment was when Danielle’s sister-in-law presented her with a family heirloom ring, fulfilling her late mother’s wishes. “The groom had no idea this was coming,” Danielle said, still touched by the gesture.
After their wedding, they celebrated with a mini-moon at Moon Palace, planning a European honeymoon in the spring.
Danielle and Adriel’s love story is full of surprises and joy, reminding us that sometimes, the best moments in life come when we least expect them.
