CENTENNIAL, Colo., January 31, 2025 /CSRwire/ – Arrow Electronics is teaming up with The N50 Project to open a new digital lab at a primary school in Guadalajara, Mexico. This nonprofit aims to bring technology access to underserved areas.

Many schools struggle with reliable internet access. The N50 Project reports that almost 50% of schools cannot provide dependable online services, leaving many students offline at home. The new lab in Guadalajara aims to change that. With 40 workstations and SMART boards, it will help 160 fifth and sixth graders learn essential digital skills for the growing job market.

According to N50 Executive Director Daniel Gutwein, “Where you are born shouldn’t limit your access to the digital world. We’re here to close that gap.”

Arrow is also collaborating with several companies to create “Connectivity Kits” for schools. These kits come with everything needed to set up a digital lab, including software that transforms one device into four stations. The kits are powered by Intel® and provide students with full-sized monitors, keyboards, and mice, enhancing their learning experience while aiding teachers with management tools.

With support from Intel, ApplianSys, SMART, and ASUS, Arrow assembles these kits and manages their delivery. They are committed to helping the Guadalajara lab thrive and providing mentoring to students. Plans are also in place for another lab in Mexico City.

“At Arrow, we see our role in supporting local communities,” said Gretchen Zech, Arrow’s senior vice president. “Our goal is to encourage STEM education and help students engage with technology that can improve their futures.”

The N50 Connectivity Kits are low-cost and have great potential for expansion in low and middle-income countries. The plan is to roll out hundreds of these kits in Africa and the Americas over the next three years, including the establishment of thousands of high schools in Mexico.
