HOLLIDAYSBURG — The Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders are a lively and athletic basketball team. They have a knack for making it tough for any opponent to keep up.

In their recent game against Hollidaysburg, the Marauders showcased their strengths, winning 58-49. They pushed the pace throughout the match, which made it challenging for Hollidaysburg to maintain control.

Three Marauders topped double digits in scoring. Junior guard Tyson Lestochi led the team with 18 points. Junior forward Taurean Consiglio contributed 17 points and pulled down eight rebounds, while Jake Kissell added 10 points and also grabbed eight rebounds.

Coach Ryan Lestochi praised his players for their aggressive style of play. “They were all great tonight,” he said. The team focuses on balanced scoring and often looks to have multiple players contributing in double figures, and they succeeded again in this game.

At one point, Bishop Guilfoyle led by nine points during the third quarter. However, Hollidaysburg fought back with a 10-4 run that cut the deficit to just three points. The Marauders responded strongly, scoring 16 of the next 24 points to regain a comfortable lead in the fourth quarter.

Tyson Lestochi reflected on the game’s pace, “We had some early energy but then slowed down. We needed to pick it up again in the second half.” Hollidaysburg didn’t go without a fight. Coach Brad Lear noted their team’s effort after facing a tough stretch against Bishop Guilfoyle.

Consiglio particularly shined in the fourth quarter, scoring 10 of his 17 points then. He emphasized the importance of mental toughness, saying, “We wanted to keep our energy high, and I think we did that.”

Hollidaysburg had a strong showing too. They had three players score in double figures: Jayden Wolfe and Brady Steiner each scored 12 points, while Kasen Metzger added 11 points to his tally.

Overall, Bishop Guilfoyle improved their record to 10-3, remaining undefeated in the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference at 9-0. Hollidaysburg, meanwhile, has a record of 12-2 and 9-2 in the conference.
