Cooper Kupp has faced some challenges since his impressive 1,947 receiving yards in 2021. In 2024, he managed only 710 yards and hasn’t hit the 1,000-yard mark in any season since that standout year.
His last 100-yard game was in mid-November, and in his last four games combined, he totaled just 82 receiving yards, with each of the last two games seeing him catch one pass for 29 yards.
Recently, Kupp addressed how he copes with a smaller role in the Rams’ offense. “You pray a lot,” he shared. “I’ve been through ups and downs like this before. Back in 2019, I ended that season averaging under 50 yards a game.”
Kupp believes in the importance of focusing on the fundamentals. “I want to play good football,” he said. “I watch the tape to see if I’m executing my assignments, blocking, and competing for my teammates. That’s in my control. I trust that if I keep doing things the right way, things will eventually turn around.”
As Kupp approaches his 32nd birthday in June, he’s set to earn $20 million in 2025. This figure raised concerns for the Rams, who were considering trading him as they struggled with a 1-4 record at the start of the 2024 season.
If his contract isn’t restructured, Kupp could become available for trade after the season. As the Rams’ passing game begins to focus on Puka Nacua, there’s a possibility that Kupp may be released.
