Trump’s response to the disappointing jobs data included accusing the BLS of bias and announcing the firing of Erika McEntarfer, the Commissioner of Labor Statistics. This outburst came just after advisers had been preparing to spin the report positively. According to economic adviser Stephen Moore, the issues in the job market are partly due to the uncertainty caused by tariffs, emphasizing the need to reconsider this approach.
