FedEx has been making strides in supporting the Food Bank of the Rockies this past year. Their teams have rolled up their sleeves to help feed families by volunteering and donating funds. Kristina Withers, a human resources partner at FedEx, emphasized the company’s commitment to community, saying, “Volunteering with the Food Bank highlights our core values, showing our communities we are here to help.”
The Food Bank of the Rockies is a vital resource, serving a vast area that includes all of Wyoming and 32 counties in Colorado. They depend on a fleet of delivery trucks and dedicated drivers to help distribute food. Recently, three FedEx managers lent their expertise to enhance the Food Bank’s operations, focusing on warehouse management and delivery routes to improve efficiency.
With a grant of $20,000 from the FedEx Community Engagement Fund, the Food Bank could distribute over 60,000 meals to families in need. This level of support is crucial, especially since the Food Bank of the Rockies is responsible for distributing enough food for 185,000 meals each day.
In a recent volunteer session, the FedEx Freight Team tackled a unique logistics challenge. Instead of their routine global tasks, they packed boxes of food for local families. Their efforts had a tangible impact: they packaged 24,980 pounds of bulk rice, equating to 23,376 meals for those facing food insecurity.
This partnership highlights a growing trend where companies actively engage in community service. According to a recent survey by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, 70% of consumers prefer to buy from brands that give back. This change in consumer behavior reflects an increased demand for corporate social responsibility.
FedEx’s focus on community ties into broader efforts in the logistics industry. Many companies are rethinking their roles in societal issues, creating programs that support food security in various regions.
This collaboration not only strengthens the community but also enriches the FedEx teams, allowing them to see first-hand the difference their efforts make. These initiatives remind us that logistics can play a key role in resource distribution, especially in challenging times.
