Michigan Women’s Basketball Dominates NC State in NCAA Tournament
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The University of Michigan’s women’s basketball team showed their strength in a thrilling NCAA Tournament match against NC State. With a score of 64-38 in the second half, the No. 9-ranked Wolverines pulled ahead in a game that began with tight competition.
Michigan’s defense was fierce, forcing NC State into 18 turnovers and racking up 11 steals. Brooke Quarles Daniels shined on defense, contributing five steals along with six rebounds, five assists, and six points.
Olivia Olson topped the scoring charts, netting 27 points— all in the second half— while Syla Swords added 26 points, shooting 9-for-18, including 4-for-10 from the three-point line. Mila Holloway also had a strong game with 13 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.
The first quarter was a nail-biter, with both teams exchanging leads and keeping the score close. Quarles Daniels kicked things off with a putback layup, setting the tone for a competitive match. The Wolverines trailed by just one point at the end of the first quarter after some back-and-forth scoring from both sides.

As the second half rolled in, Michigan fired up their offense. A 15-3 run, highlighted by Olson’s three baskets and Quarles Daniels’ three steals, broadened their lead to 49-35 by the end of the third quarter.
The Wolverines didn’t let up in the fourth quarter. Olson scored 15 of Michigan’s 32 points, helping them finish the game with a convincing win.
