On average, a family of four spends about $10,610 a year buying brand-name groceries elsewhere, while ALDI’s store brands only cost around $6,759. This means families save 36% by shopping at ALDI. Even when comparing store brands from other supermarkets, ALDI customers still save considerable money—about $1,869 or 22% less. In total, ALDI shoppers saved around $8.3 billion in 2023 by choosing ALDI’s store brands over other supermarkets.
Jason Hart, ALDI’s CEO, believes they have established themselves as the top choice for value in the U.S. He attributes this to their strong supplier network, which provides customers with affordable yet high-quality products. A survey of 2,000 ALDI shoppers revealed that many consider ALDI’s produce to be fresh, although not everyone agrees that their store brands match up to pricier options. However, from my own experience visiting ALDI’s test kitchens, I found that their products often rival more expensive national brands.
