Hired in 2020, Thibodeau has helped the team rebound, leading them to the playoffs four times after a long drought.

He was an assistant coach during the last finals run, and a familiar face on the bench is Rick Brunson, the father of star player Jalen Brunson. Rick played for the Knicks back in 2000 and has been an assistant coach since last season. Jalen joined the Knicks recently and has quickly become a fan favorite.
Back in 2000, pop culture was vibrant. Songs like “Maria Maria” by Carlos Santana dominated the charts. That track was popular when the Knicks were just a few wins away from the NBA Finals. Looking at the Western Conference, the 2000 playoffs featured the Lakers’ dramatic comeback against the Blazers in the Conference finals. Down 3-1 in the series, the Lakers rallied for a memorable Game 7 victory, showcasing the thrilling intensity of those playoffs.
While the Knicks have a challenging path ahead, their resurgence has fans excited. A fresh blend of talent and experience might just be what they need to make a deeper playoff run this time. The past may inform their future, but right now, New York is buzzing with hope.
