At the Gala, attendees heard from two former college football stars, Drew Stanton and Jason Avant. Stanton played for Michigan State University, while Avant was with the University of Michigan. Their rivalry on the field shifted to a shared passion for helping newborns and mothers in need.

Both speakers shared moving personal stories. Drew Stanton emphasized the importance of accessible healthcare, saying, “Everybody needs care. No one should be denied the help they require.” He encouraged everyone to support children facing health challenges without any barriers.

Jason Avant also shared his experience. He mentioned having a premature baby and the worries that come with it. “I want to raise awareness and funds for this great cause,” he said, highlighting the need for support for families during difficult times.

All funds raised during the Gala directly benefit the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the mother/baby units at the University of Michigan Health-Sparrow. These essential services provide critical care to vulnerable infants and their families.
