HONOLULU (February 28, 2025) – Washington defeated Howard University in softball, winning 8-0 in just five innings. The team showcased strong hitting with multiple extra-base hits, including two home runs.
In the first inning, Washington took the lead with a powerful two-run homer by Ava Carroll, making it 2-0. The next inning saw them break the game open with five runs, highlighted by a three-run blast from Alexis DeBoer, pushing the score to 7-0. In the fourth inning, Giselle Alvarez added to the tally with an RBI single, bringing the final score to 8-0.
For Howard, senior Lealani Ricks and sophomore Merci Hart were the only players to get hits, each recording one. Senior pitcher Jordin King came in from the bench and pitched two innings, striking out two batters while giving up one unearned run.
Washington’s offense tallied eight runs on seven hits, with Morgan Reimer pitching a complete game, striking out seven batters without allowing a run.
Later today, Howard will play two games: one against Jackson State at 4 PM ET and another against Washington at 6:30 PM ET.
