On January 10, 2026, the University of North Alabama men’s basketball team achieved a much-needed victory against Bellarmine, winning 82-73 in Louisville. This win broke a five-game losing streak, giving North Alabama (6-9, 1-3 in Atlantic Sun Conference) a boost as they look to turn their season around.
In the first half, the Lions faced challenges, trailing 33-32 at halftime. However, they came back strong in the second half, scoring 50 points compared to Bellarmine’s 40. This performance marked their best scoring half since the home opener.
Strong Shooter: Dallas Howell
Dallas Howell, a sixth-year senior, delivered an outstanding performance. He made 8 out of 9 three-pointers, scoring a career-high 24 points. In the second half alone, he scored 18 points without missing a shot from behind the arc. His efficiency was not just impressive; it changed the game for the Lions.
Key Players Make an Impact
Corneilous Williams also stood out, overcoming recent health issues to secure 20 points and 15 rebounds, which was his sixth double-double this season. Canin Jefferson added 17 points and contributed six assists, showcasing his development as a consistent scorer. Newcomer Cortez Graham-Howard reached career highs with 10 points and seven assists, proving valuable as well.
The Lions dominated rebounding, outpacing Bellarmine 32 to 19. This marked the first time since 2015 that they allowed so few rebounds.
