FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Humane Fort Wayne has some good news after the vandalism of its Pet Food Pantry van.
On Friday, they announced that their vehicles will be repaired and back on the road soon. This is thanks to the generous support of over 150 donors, local businesses, and matching contributions.
While it will take some time to organize repairs and modifications, the community’s support will help speed things up.
Last Sunday, the Pet Food Pantry van was vandalized. A man was seen on camera damaging the vehicle at the South Hanna Street location. He removed decals, siphoned gas, and punctured the gas tank.
“Unfortunately, our Pantry vehicle was already in bad shape before we were targeted,” said Executive Director Jessica Henry-Johnson. “Repair costs would exceed the vehicle’s value.”
Humane Fort Wayne asks that people do not donate pet food to anyone with their decals who is not officially associated with the organization. Instead, donations should go to their locations on Maycrest Drive or Leesburg Road.
The Pet Food Pantry is vital, supplying over 250,000 pounds of pet food each year to families in need.
