Hyatt’s Ambitious Expansion: Elevating Luxury and Lifestyle Brands Across Asia Pacific

Hyatt Hotels is making big moves in the Asia Pacific region. They’re planning to launch nearly 90 new luxury and lifestyle properties in the next five years. This expansion will bring the Thompson Hotels brand to new areas and boost the presence of Andaz, The Standard, and Park Hyatt in places like Thailand, Malaysia, and Australia, with openings scheduled for 2025 and 2026.

Since 2017, Hyatt has significantly increased its global offerings. The number of luxury rooms has doubled, resort rooms have tripled, and lifestyle rooms have expanded fivefold. By early 2025, about 64% of Hyatt’s hotels in Asia Pacific will be in the luxury or upper-upscale categories.

Carina Chorengel, Hyatt’s senior VP for Asia Pacific, emphasizes that today’s luxury travel is all about authentic and unique experiences. The company’s expansion plans reflect this vision, focusing on catering to discerning travelers.

In late 2025, Hyatt will unveil several new properties, including Thompson Shanghai Expo, Andaz One Bangkok, and Andaz Shanghai ITC. Australia will also see the arrival of Andaz Gold Coast in mid-2026, a stunning integrated resort.

Hyatt has ambitious plans for Malaysia, launching Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur next month atop The Merdeka 118, the tallest building in the region. Additionally, Vietnam will welcome its first Park Hyatt resort in the first quarter of 2026. Other exciting upcoming launches include Mumian Shanghai Expo and The Standard Residences in Hua Hin and Phuket Bang Tao.

In a recent survey conducted by a leading hospitality research firm, over 70% of travelers expressed a growing preference for unique stays that offer local culture and experiences. This aligns perfectly with Hyatt’s strategy to deepen its luxury portfolio in Asia.

Hyatt also recently launched its Destination by Hyatt brand in Southeast Asia, further diversifying its offerings. This move indicates a strategic shift to cater to evolving market demands, highlighting the importance of adapting to traveler preferences.
