I-TEAM Investigates: Local Business’s Dumping Scandal Leaves Homeowner with Trash in Yard

A man in Toledo is upset about trash piling up in his backyard. Timothy Taylor, a resident on Monroe Street, says the mess comes from the nearby Amoco gas station at Monroe and Auburn.

This issue isn’t just affecting Taylor. His neighbor also found trash in their yard, and both piles appeared about a week ago.

“I spoke to a contractor at the gas station, and he admitted the trash came from them,” Taylor shared. “He said they were supposed to come and clean it up, but they didn’t.”

Frustration is building for Taylor. “They need to clean it up. It’s their garbage, not mine,” he said. He reached out to local news for help with the situation.

The I-TEAM contacted the gas station’s manager, who confirmed the trash was from their store. He explained that the business is undergoing renovations and that a contractor was paid to clear out the old waste. Unfortunately, that contractor incorrectly disposed of the garbage.

Initially, the manager hesitated to take responsibility, but after some questioning, he agreed to find a solution for Taylor.

The I-TEAM plans to follow up to ensure the issue gets resolved and that Taylor can enjoy his backyard again.
