IBM Set to Acquire Innovative Application Software Technology: What It Means for the Future of Government Contracting

IBM is set to acquire Applications Software Technology. This move aims to enhance its support for public sector clients as they shift to Oracle Cloud Applications.

The deal, announced on Thursday, is expected to complete in the first quarter of 2025, pending necessary regulatory approvals.

Boosting Public Sector Support

According to Kelly Chambliss, senior vice president of IBM Consulting in the Americas, public sector cloud transitions often need a partner with the right mix of industry knowledge and tech skills.

“Acquiring Applications Software Technology will enhance our Oracle Cloud Application capabilities. This will help clients manage their transformation journeys,” Chambliss explained.

Once the acquisition goes through, Applications Software Technology will become part of IBM Consulting.

IBM believes this will improve its support for local governments, educational institutions, and various public sector entities across North America, the U.K., and Ireland, reinforcing its commitment to an open ecosystem.
