IKEA has announced a new line of smart home products that will work with Matter, an open-source standard for connecting devices. This collection includes 21 items focused on lighting, sensors, and control.
The aim is simple: make it easier for people to set up and use smart home technology. Stjepan Begic, a product developer at IKEA, shared, “We’re upgrading our most appreciated products while also adding new ones to tackle everyday challenges.”
Among the new offerings are 11 smart bulbs in the KAJPLATS range, which come in different shapes and sizes and feature dimming options. There are also five smart sensors. For instance, the MYGGSPRAY sensor detects motion and automatically turns on lights, while MYGGBETT alerts users when doors or windows open or close.
IKEA is also focusing on safety with sensors like TIMMERFLOTTE, which checks temperature and humidity, and KLIPPBOK, a water leakage detector. Additionally, ALPSTUGA monitors air quality to help maintain a healthy home environment.
The product lineup also includes remote controls and a smart plug called GRILLPLATS, designed to manage lamps and appliances while tracking energy use. There are two types of remote controls: one with buttons for basic functions and another with a scroll wheel for added versatility.
While pricing and exact release dates will vary by market, IKEA has hinted that these products might be available as soon as January next year.
