This year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in Australia has some star-studded campmates, but their paychecks are lower than in past seasons. A source told Yahoo Lifestyle that this year’s cast is the least expensive ever due to budget cuts at Paramount Global, which owns Channel 10.
Dave Hughes tops the earnings list with a reported deal of $250,000. Other celebrities like Matty J, Sam Thaiday, and Shayna Jack are believed to earn between $100,000 and $175,000 for their two weeks in the jungle. There’s also a bonus—each additional day they appear on the show means an extra $5,000.
Meanwhile, British TikTok star Max Balegde and Reggie Bird are said to be making around $100,000 each. Reality stars Samantha Moitzi and Tina Provis are at the bottom of the pay scale, earning between $35,000 and $60,000.
According to the insider, the cast is divided into three tiers based on their pay. The production starts high, signing big names, and then fills out the lineup with less expensive talent.
The reason behind this year’s cheap lineup? The television industry isn’t generating as much revenue as it once did. For comparison, during its peak, Shane Warne earned an impressive $2 million for his appearance in season two back in 2015.
