Endico Potatoes Inc. is recalling its frozen “Peas and Carrots” and “Mixed Vegetables” due to possible listeria contamination. These products were distributed in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maryland, Florida, and Washington D.C. from July 18 to August. Thankfully, no illnesses have been reported so far.
Pennsylvania state tests found listeria in product samples, which can be dangerous, especially for children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms might include high fever, severe headache, and nausea. In pregnant women, it can cause miscarriages or stillbirths.
Endico has stopped distributing these products while they investigate the contamination with the FDA. If you bought any of these items, check the lot codes. For “Peas and Carrots,” it’s lot 110625, with a production date of June 11, 2025, and a use-by date of June 10, 2027. The “Mixed Vegetables” lot is 170625, produced on June 17, 2025, and has a use-by date of June 16, 2027.
The company urges customers to return these products for a full refund. For questions, you can contact them at 1-800-431-1398.
Recent data from the CDC reveals that listeria sickens about 1,600 people each year in the U.S., with around 260 fatalities. This highlights how essential it is to stay informed about food safety. Social media discussions around food recalls often emphasize the need for vigilance and transparency from companies.
