India Launches ‘Sanjay’: The Next-Gen Battlefield Surveillance System Enhancing Defense Capabilities

India has launched an advanced battlefield surveillance system called “Sanjay” to boost the Indian Army’s capabilities. This new tech, developed with Bharat Electronics Limited, gathers data from various ground and aerial sensors, creating a comprehensive view of the battlefield.

Sanjay enhances operational accuracy, reducing unnecessary data and making the most of the Army’s Data Network and Satellite Communication. With its high-tech sensors, the system is designed to monitor vast areas, especially critical borders like the Line of Actual Control with China.

Once operational, Sanjay will offer real-time data, helping commanders make swift, informed decisions during combat. Local sources indicate it will change the game for military operations, both in traditional and unconventional tactics.

Equipped with artificial intelligence, Sanjay can analyze battlefield situations instantly, supporting tasks like troop placement and targeting. This ability makes it a powerful asset for preventing border incursions and enhancing situational awareness.

The deployment of Sanjay will occur in three phases, starting in March and expected to finish by October 2025. It will be implemented across various units of the Army.

The launch of Sanjay coincides with India’s announcement that 2025 will be the “Year of Technology Absorption” for the military. This aligns with India’s “Atmanirbhar Bharat” or “Make in India” campaign, which promotes self-sufficiency in defense technology.

Sanjay is expected to transform future military operations, giving commanders the tools they need to stay ahead of potential threats. Other military innovations, such as anti-drone lasers and stealth technologies, have already been introduced to enhance security measures.
